Chinese coins were constructed with square holes to aid in creating uniform holes. The coins were put on a dowel so that many could be filed down to a uniform shape all at once. Additionally, this hole allowed the coins to be strung so the used could carry it easily. The Chinese Coins Guest Soap Mold features two different coin designs.
